TEHRAN (IRIB) -- The Islamic Republic of Iran's Embassy in Turkmenistan Thursday expressed condolence to Turkmen government on the death of President Saparmurat Niyazov.

"Iranian nation and government extend condolence to Turkmen government and people on Niyazov's death," the Embassy said in a statement.

According to the statement, staff members of the Iranian Embassy and Iranians residing in the country expressed their deep regret at the demise.

"Iranians pray to God to bestow peace upon the late president and patience for the Turkmen nation and government," the statement said.
